About the museum
Kvarnbygården is more than 200 years old and was built by the merchant family Roy. The farm consists of a park and two buildings: a wooden house and a stone house, where Mölndal local heritage society has its exhibitions. The farm lies in Mölndals Kvarnby, an industrial-history area of national interest (riksintresse).
In the wooden house there are period-furnished parlours with tiled stoves and an exhibition of old objects. The stone house contains, among other things, an antiquities room (fornsal) and a reading room for studying older printed material. The society also has a weaving room and shows the Mölndal costume (Mölndalsdräkten) and the Mölndalslöparen.
Kvarnbygården is one of the society’s four museums in Kvarnbyn, whose exhibitions reflect Mölndal’s development from a mill village and farming district to an industrial town. The farm is also used for the society’s lectures and slide shows.
