About the museum
Ljungby museum is run by Ljungby hembygdsförening (local heritage association), which was formed in 1924 and has its activities at Gamla Torg in central Ljungby. The association owns the collections.
The museum is housed in the old courthouse, a building from around 1820 where the administration of justice was carried out until 1902. Since 1967 the house has been a museum and the home of the heritage association's collections. The building was restored to its original state in connection with the renovation of the buildings at Gamla Torg.
The permanent exhibitions deal, among other things, with the opera singer Christina Nilsson, the Sjölinska salongen (the Sjölin salon), South Swedish bonad paintings, a schoolroom and a textile room. Temporary exhibitions are also sometimes shown.
