About the museum
In the mid-19th century a large industry grew up at the mouth of the Ljusnan, and the works had a strong influence on the district. The Bruksmuseet i Ljusne (Ljusne Ironworks Museum) depicts the lives and work of the workers in Ljusne around 1900, a life wholly in the shadow of the sawmills and ironworks.
The museum has collections of objects from that time and authentic settings such as a country store, a school and a workers’ kitchen. It is run by Ljusneortens museiförening (Ljusne Local Museum Association).
