About the museum

Söderhamns stadsmuseum is housed in the old boring house (borrhuset) from 1748, which belonged to the rifle factory (gevärsfaktoriet), the enterprise behind the founding of the town. The association Söderhamns Museum has run museum activities in the building since 1915.

The museum shows a permanent exhibition on the history of Söderhamn. The association is a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to preserve and convey the town's history.
