About the museum
The minesweeper M 20 was launched on 1 December 1941 at Plyms Neglingevarv. The M-boats were designed by Jac Iversen and built as small, shallow-draught minesweepers with two propellers and a broad stern to handle the minesweeping gear. During the Second World War, M 20 patrolled and swept mainly in the Öresund, and in October 1943 the vessel rescued about a hundred Danish Jews who were fleeing across the sound.
After the war M 20 took part in the large post-war minesweeping along Sweden's coasts. From 1967 to 1992 the vessel was used as a test vessel for Försvarets materielverk (the Defence Materiel Administration) under the name HMS Skuld, and after a major rebuild in 1993 it served as a training ship where cadets were trained in navigation and seamanship.
The association Minsveparen M 20 was formed in 2005, and the Sjöhistoriska museet (Swedish Maritime Museum) took over ownership. Since then M 20 has been a seagoing museum vessel that is preserved, shown and used by the association. Its home port is the Sjöhistoriska's ship pier at Galärvarvet by the Vasamuseet. A major renovation was carried out in 2020–2021, and since September 2026 a renovation of the vessel's sudband (wale) has been under way.

The vessel was built in 1941 and is not accessible. There are protruding objects, sharp edges, narrow passages and steep ladders, and the deck can be slippery. The gap between quay and vessel requires care.
