About the museum

MoDo museum is located in Rättargården in Moliden, by the Mo River (Mo-älven), where the forestry company Mo & Domsjö AB had its origins. More than a hundred years have passed since the saw frames at Mo sawmill stopped, and little remains of the old industrial environment. When the village association was able to acquire Rättargården, the museum got a new place where the business had once begun.

Moliden's village association runs the museum together with a summer café in Rättargården, where staff dressed in turn-of-the-century costume serve home-baked bread on period china. There is also a flea market and exhibitions during the summer.

Nearby is the Mo bruk industrial-cultural-historical area, MoDos vagga, with a fairy-tale trail. Guided tours of the museum and the works area can be booked, and rooms in Rättargården can be rented for overnight stays and conferences.

Moliden is about 25 km west of Örnsköldsvik. Follow road 348 towards Åsele; the site is signposted.
