About the museum
Möja Jernväg is a privately owned museum railway in Bergs fiskeby on the island of Möja in the Stockholm archipelago. The traction is provided by the steam locomotive Lappen, built in 1904 by Orenstein & Koppel in Berlin. The locomotive belongs to the factory’s so-called “40-hästar” type and has a tractive effort of 1,065 kp at full steam pressure.
The line today has five vehicles: the steam locomotive Lappen (MoJ no. 1), an open goods wagon with a wooden frame (no. 2), a wagon built on Möja in the summer of 1968 (no. 3) and the smaller locomotive MoJ no. 4, known as Lilla Loket. The line also has a homebuilt steam railcar from 1973.
Since 1965 trains have essentially run every year. Before each run, preparations are made, such as chopping firewood and getting the locomotive ready. The railway is privately owned and has no fixed opening hours.
