About the museum
Runmarö hembygdsgård is housed in the old school in Uppeby on Runmarö in the Stockholm archipelago and is run by Runmarö hembygdsförening (Runmarö local heritage society). The homestead is used for the society's meetings, performances and other events, and has a large hall, a kitchen and an outdoor stage.
On the upper floor there is a room where Skärgårdsmuseet runs a branch in cooperation with the local heritage society. The exhibition is based on objects from the collection of Hans Öhlin, an islander of Runmarö, and shows life on the island. Every year a theme exhibition is also shown; the museum has, among other things, told the story of foster children in the archipelago, the Runmarö mines and the island's lakes.
