About the museum

Naturum Hornborgasjön lies on Fågeludden on the eastern side of the lake, just outside Broddetorp in Falköping Municipality, and is run by the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland. The building stands on piers out in the lake and has won an award for its architecture.

The exhibition tells of the landscape, the history and the nature by the lake, and of how Hornborgasjön has been recreated from a reed-covered area into one of Sweden’s most important bird lakes. The cranes are at the center, and at Infocenter Trandansen (the Crane Dance Information Centre) there is a separate exhibition on cranes during the spring crane season.

Naturum offers free activities such as crane guided tours, a birdwatching school and pushchair-friendly guided tours, as well as family activities with adventure bags, treasure hunts and a craft bench. Next to it is Café Doppingen, and in the area there are hiking trails and bird towers.
