About the museum
Naturum Vindelfjällen Ammarnäs is one of two visitor centres for the Vindelfjällen nature reserve, one of Europe's largest protected mountain areas. It is run by the County Administrative Board of Västerbotten (Länsstyrelsen Västerbotten), which also has a naturum in Hemavan.
The naturum has exhibitions on animals, plants, geology and cultural history that suit the whole family, and staff give tips on hiking trails and practical advice before mountain trips. In summer, guided tours are arranged in the nature reserve, along with theme evenings, film screenings, talks and activities for children.
