About the museum

Nyboda is located on Kommunalvägen opposite Huddinge church and was built in the 1850s as a home for the church's clerk (klockare). Over the years the house has had several uses: Huddinge's small village school (småskola) was located here from 1878 to 1886, and between 1917 and 1942 it was Huddinge's telephone exchange. Since 1966 the building has been a local heritage and school museum.

The activity is run by Huddinge Hembygdsförening (local heritage association), while the building is owned and managed by Huge Fastigheter. On the lower floor, pictures, maps and other things from old Huddinge are shown, and there is also a preserved schoolroom from the late 19th century with books and handicraft objects. The upper floor shows objects from the self-sufficiency era, among them agricultural tools, kitchen implements and textiles.

Huddinge Hembygdsförening also manages other display settings, including the smithy at Björksättra gård, and the museum has limited opening times.
