About the museum
The crofter's cottage Stensberg is a day-labour cottage (dagsverkstorp), that is, a cottage where the crofter paid the rent by working on the estate. Whoever lived in Stensberg performed three days' labour a week at Stensättra farm. The cottage was moved in 1995 to its present site by Sundby farm.
Next to the cottage stands Sundby magasin (the Sundby Storehouse), built in 1898 to store grain and to make room for the increasing number of farm machines that came into use. Today the local heritage society has its museum activities in the storehouse.
On the upper floor an agricultural museum is shown, with tools for working the soil and the crafts needed in a home. On the lower floor there is a small laundry, since laundering was common in Huddinge, and a trading store whose fittings come from a grocery in Solgård that remained until the 1960s.
Sundby gård is an outdoor recreation area run by Huddinge Municipality. The area has a long history as an estate, and the main building of the manor house burned down on Christmas night 1941.
