About the museum
Per Albin Hansson was born in 1885 in Kulladal in Fosie, today part of Malmö. The family lived in two small rooms and a small kitchen, and the rent was SEK 5 a month. He later became one of the leading figures of Swedish social democracy and was Prime Minister of Sweden in 1932–1936 and 1939–1946. The street that runs past the house is today called Per Albin Hanssons väg (Per Albin Hansson Road).
The birthplace is today divided into a museum section and a premises that is rented out. In the museum section there is a workers' dwelling that shows how people lived around the turn of the century, and a room with Per Albin Hansson's personal belongings. One of the objects is the dressing gown he received as a present on his fiftieth birthday. The museum is run by the Stödföreningen för Per Albin Hanssons födelsehem (Support Association for Per Albin Hansson's Birthplace), and the viewings take place in cooperation with ABF Malmö (the Workers' Educational Association Malmö).
