About the museum

Mörsils hembygdsgård Römmen lies just west of Mörsil, with access from the E14 opposite Mörsil church. The site is where Mörsil fort (Mörsils skans) was built up in the 1600s. Mörsil local heritage society, which was chosen as Local Heritage Society of the Year 2020 by Heimbygda, manages the site.

On Römmen there are several older buildings, a forest museum and a local history museum that visitors can go into. Down by the river stands an old sawmill, and in the area there is also a shelter and various installations from the Second World War.

During the summer a summer café is open, and the society arranges activities such as midsummer celebrations, a flea market, exercise sessions and children’s activities. The Logen (lodge), where the refreshments are served, can be rented for various functions.

For children there are swings, stick horses with obstacles and outdoor toys. Children’s activities are arranged during the summer, and in the autumn the society has held a ghost evening with a secret mission.
