About the museum
Skolmuseet i Hed (the School Museum in Hed) lies in the middle of the churchyard slope up towards Heds kyrka (Hed Church) in Skinnskatteberg Municipality. Today the building shares its space with the church caretaker's office, and the museum is run by Skinnskatteberg together with Hed and Gunnilbo parishes.
The museum gives an insight into how an ordinary school looked from the middle of the 19th century. In the old schoolroom visitors can see how a classroom could look in the 1860s, and try sitting at one of the benches. During the culture days in Hed, which are held for a week in mid-summer, a lesson is given in the old-fashioned way. School classes visit the museum regularly, and guided tours can be arranged.
