About the museum
Stigs museum has its origins in Stig Svensson’s collection of accordions. For many years he gathered instruments from different periods and parts of the world, and the collection grew to about 700 accordions. After his death his niece Ingrid Gustafsson and her partner Carl-Ivar Carlsson took over the museum, which they have run since 2011.
The museum lies on a green farm in Hägghult, just below Svarta Bergen. The farm was previously a multi-generation home, and in the loft there were older clothes that became the basis of the museum’s costume room. The collections are spread across several cottages and houses.
The main part is the accordion museum, which also contains objects connected with well-known Swedish artists, among them Evert Taube’s lute and Monica Zetterlund’s accordion. The clock museum shows cuckoo clocks in many forms and a home-built organ with alarm clocks, together with porcelain from, among others, Rörstrand and Gustavsberg. In a building from the 1820s and in the crofter’s cottage there are older utility objects such as coffee grinders, books, jugs and old guns.
