About the museum
The Swedish Tiled-Stove Museum (Svenska kakelugnsmuseet) in Strömsfors by Kolmården is run by a voluntary association and was described by Sveriges Radio in 2016 as the country’s only tiled-stove museum. The museum’s ambition is to preserve and show tiled stoves as part of Swedish craft history.
The exhibition holds about forty tiled stoves set up in different room settings by style and age. The oldest come from around 1750, and the youngest were made in the 1930s and 1940s, when the last tiled stoves were built. All styles are represented, and a guide tells about how the stove works.
The museum is at the same address as Norrköpings kakelugnsmakeri (Norrköping Tiled-Stove Workshop), which restores, sells and installs antique tiled stoves and has a large display of tiled stoves in home settings. The exhibition can only be visited by booking a time by telephone.
