About the museum
Uniformsmuseet (the Uniform Museum) is in Klagstorp on Söderslätt, in the former municipal building. It opened to the public in 2020 and is run by a non-profit association. The founders are Nicklas Östergren, who has collected uniforms and worked as a uniform costumier, and Malin Kihlberg, a set and production designer, who plans how the collection is displayed.
The collection comprises uniforms from various professions, such as lapplisor (Lapland police), home guard members, customs officers and healthcare workers, shown on mannequins. There is also a telephone kiosk from the former Televerket (Swedish Telecom) and a BMW police motorcycle. Parts of the collection are rented out to film and TV productions, and the museum shows costumes from Swedish film and TV.
At the opening, the exhibition Kvinnor i uniform (Women in Uniform) was shown, among others. The museum also has a shop and a retro café.
