About the museum
VikingaTider lies in Löddeköpinge by the Lödde å river, on the site where one of Skåne's earliest wooden churches with a large burial ground stood around a thousand years ago. The site is run by the association Viking Foundation, which aims to recreate the world that once existed in Löddeköpinge on an area of about 250,000 square metres.
By the car park there is an administration building with a museum shop and café, as well as an exhibition hall on the history of Löddeköpinge. From here paths lead down into the historical landscape, with reconstructed buildings based on archaeological finds: farmhouses and craft huts at Sigrids gård, pastures with grazing animals and a feasting hall. Hundreds of trees have been planted to recreate the landscape over time, and a reconstructed stave church and a building for exhibitions and conferences are planned for the longer term.
Visitors can experience everyday life in the Viking Age together with archaeologists and guides. The site is open to visitors mainly in summer, with Vikingasommar on Thursday–Sunday, and arranges events all year round, including the Viking festival Fröja Thing, school programmes and the opportunity to live like a Viking (bo som en viking).
