About the museum
Ydre school museum is in the old school building from 1872 in the middle of Asby. The museum is housed in two period classrooms and gives a picture of the school environment from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, with a wood-burning stove in the classroom and woollen stockings drying.
The collection includes old school wall charts, benches, maps and textbooks, but also natural-history specimens, handicraft products and an entire wall of woodwork objects.
The school museum is run in cooperation with the Andrew Peterson Society (Andrew Petersonsällskapet), which since 2007 has had an emigrant museum in the same building, Asby gamla skola (Asby Old School). The school museum follows the opening hours of the Emigrant Museum.
