Henri Matisse – Alex Katz. Le silence de la peinture

The American painter Alex Katz (born 1927) is in dialogue with Matisse: his paintings, drawings, cut-outs and prints, from “Nude” (1951) to “Lilies 13” (2025), form part of a new hanging of the museum’s collection.

The Nice designer and illustrator Coun. reinterprets the mythological ceilings and baroque architecture of the palace with clean, precise line. Pieces in pasted and moulded paper, the technique of the first Nice carnival craftsmen, extend his drawings into space.
