About the museum
The Museu Carmen Thyssen Andorra was created to make the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza collection known in Andorra. It is a private collection that reflects the interest in art that the Baroness Thyssen-Bornemisza always showed, and which she began to build with Baron Thyssen. For years it occupied the ground floor of the historic Hostal Valira building in Escaldes-Engordany, where it presented exhibitions with works from the collection and ran an educational programme, EduCarmenThyssen.
On 4 January 2026 this venue closed its doors for good with the closing of the exhibition “Vincles. Cuixart conversa amb la Col·lecció Carmen Thyssen” (Links. Cuixart in Conversation with the Carmen Thyssen Collection). On 15 January 2026 the Government of Andorra, Andorra Telecom and the Fundació Museand signed the agreement that moves the museum to the Edifici Node, the future headquarters of Andorra Telecom.
The new space will cover 961.81 m² across two independent floors, with a permanent exhibition room and immersive spaces, and aims to become a reference for digital culture. In the meantime the museum team is working on the design of the new project, and the museum remains closed until further notice.
