About the museum

The Museu de la Moto de Canillo, also known as the Museu de les Dues Rodes (M2R), is the only museum of its kind in the Principality of Andorra and is run by the Canillo local council. Created in 2007, it pays tribute to the motorcycle, a vehicle that has accompanied humanity in work, leisure, sport, war and peace. It has the support of the Museu de l’Automoció “Roda Roda” in Lleida and of the motorcycle museums in Bassella and Barcelona.

The exhibition, 700 m² on a single floor divided into sectors, brings together around 150 machines showing the evolution of the motorcycle between 1896 and 2013. Highlights include the British Henry Capel Loft Holden of 1896 and a French Diamant of 1900, both steam-powered, an American Cleveland of 1915 and a Norton Manx of 1931, winner of the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man. There are also Vespas and Lambrettas from the 1950s and 1960s, Bultaco and Montesa trial bikes, and a 1940 BMW with sidecar from the Second World War.

Among the more recent pieces are four rally bikes donated by Cyril Despres, five-time winner of the Dakar Rally on a motorcycle. The museum is currently located in the cable car building in Canillo.
