About the museum
The Goranska kuća znanja is housed in the old village school in Razloge and preserves the history and memories of the village and its descendants. The centre tells visitors the story of shingle (šindra), a building material typical of Gorski kotar, which today is mostly made by retired foresters.
The display also covers the village architecture of a typical Gorski kotar settlement, handicrafts and basketry, and pastures and beekeeping. Three animals form a special section: the lynx, Europe’s largest cat and the symbol of Risnjak National Park; the wolf, a symbol of the wild; and the bear, the largest land predator. The trail to the source of the Kupa begins right next to the centre.
