About the museum
Bećarac, a cheerful folk song in two ten-syllable lines, is typical of Slavonia, Baranja and Syrmia, and was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2011. The town of Pleternica registered the name Muzej bećarca, and through the cross-border project Kulturna ruta bećarca i gange it built the Trg bećarca.
The interpretation centre Muzej bećarca was built and equipped as part of the project “Svijet graševine” (World of Graševina), which uses the wine identity and cultural heritage to brand the region and support tourism in Požega-Slavonia County. It opened to visitors in early 2021 on the Trg bećarca in Pleternica.
The exhibition presents bećarac through authentic bearers of the tradition, original objects and modern technology. Visitors can sing bećarac karaoke-style, play the tambura in a video game (Tamburaški heroj) and take part in bećarac workshops.

Prices for visits outside opening hours are increased by 25%. When visiting both Pleternica centres (Muzej bećarca and Terra Panonica), prices are reduced by 10%.
