About the museum
The Spomen-dom Dragutina Tadijanovića (1905–2006) is housed on the ground floor of Horvat Palace on Ulica Ante Starčevića in Slavonski Brod. The poet was born in Rastušje near Slavonski Brod. The display dedicated to his life and work was completed and opened on 4 November 2009 and has been fully open to the public since November 2010. The exhibition design was shaped by the architect Neda Cilinger.
The display does not rely on the classic arrangement of showcases: the space seeks to evoke the atmosphere of each room of the poet's Zagreb flat on Gajeva Street. Visitors move among authentic furniture from that flat, memorabilia, manuscripts, archives, sculptures, photographs, letters, numerous books and artworks, and can also listen to the author reciting his own poems.
The Spomen-dom is run by the Galerija umjetnina grada Slavonskog Broda (Gallery of Fine Arts of the City of Slavonski Brod), which also hosts exhibitions, readings and workshops there, and every autumn the literary event “Tadijine jeseni”.
