About the museum
War Photo Limited is an exhibition centre for photography of war and conflict in the old town of Dubrovnik. Over two floors and about 350 square metres, it shows photographs by internationally renowned photojournalists who reported on recent and ongoing regional and global conflicts.
Its aim is to educate the public about war photography, to expose the myth of war and the intoxication with war, and to show war as it is: raw and frightening, with emphasis on the injustice that war inflicts on the innocent and on combatants. The centre sees itself as an educational medium, open to schools, universities and other educational institutions, and it exhibits works that are sometimes disturbing.
The permanent collection “Kraj Jugoslavije” (The End of Yugoslavia) is always on view: iconic photographs of the break-up of Yugoslavia, taken by some of the best-known photojournalists of the time, on the wars in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, together with multimedia videos. Alongside it, annual exhibitions and retrospectives of individual photographers are shown during the season.
