About the museum
The Päinurme Koduloomuuseum (Päinurme Local History Museum) operates in the former cultural house of Päinurme village. The museum was founded by Ründo Mülts, who began collecting old household objects as a 16-year-old schoolboy; in 2008 he received the recognition “Hea eeskuju” (Good Example). The display is divided into 12 rooms, each with its own theme, and shows mainly the recent past of the village, largely through objects collected on site.
Among other things there are horse harness, Soviet-era door and room signs, a schoolroom, a collective-farm office, a farmhouse room, a room presenting the early years of the Republic of Estonia, and a corner of the village shop. Visits take place with a guide.
