About the museum
The Hämeenkoski Local Heritage Museum is located along Keskustie below Hämeenkoski church. The museum yard includes an old grain storehouse, a Häme farmhouse, a granary building and a model of a dugout (korsu). The buildings are placed in an open arc instead of the traditional closed Häme farmyard, so that the area serves visitors better. The museum is run by the Municipality of Hollola, and Hämeenkoski has belonged to Hollola since the beginning of 2016.
The grain storehouse, designed by the architect C. L. Engel, was built in 1856. The object museum housed in it is divided into interiors, which include objects from village shops, a linen department, a school department and parish objects, as well as household objects, tools for making sahdi (wooden tubs) and 19th-century black-powder firearms.
The Häme farmhouse was built in 1836 as the main building of the Mustisto farm in Etola village. It is furnished in the style of the 19th century and has a guest room, a master's room (isännäntupa) and a traditional tupa. The Koski-seura ry (Koski Society) takes part in maintaining and developing the museum and organises events and changing exhibitions there.
