About the museum
A local heritage museum was founded at Museo-Eerola in Sydänmaa, Tuulos, as early as 1962. The museum is managed and maintained by Tuulos-Seura. The log main building dates from the 1850s, and the grain granary from 1754.
The museum complex comprises the yard of an old farm, with the main building, two granaries, a cowshed and a threshing floor (puimala). The buildings have been furnished by theme in the spirit of a peasant home, using the parish's own old objects.
The museum's speciality is its old horse-drawn vehicles, sleighs and carts, for which the parish was particularly well known in the 1920s–1950s. The collection includes about 30 different vehicles. One of the authentic granaries has been furnished as the Hyvän perheenäidin museo (Museum of the Good Mother), which presents objects used particularly by women in the first half of the 1900s.
