About the museum
Isonkyrö Reserve Soldiers' Museum (Isonkyrön Asemiesmuseo) was founded in 1997 by national defence organisations. The collection was built up from donations by private individuals.
The exhibition takes visitors through Finland's wars: from the Club War and the Hakkapeliitta cavalry to the Caroline era, the Finnish War of 1808–1809, the First World War, the Civil War of 1918 and the Second World War of 1939–1945. On display are uniforms, helmets, rifles and other equipment, including a Lotta uniform. A scale model shows the Isonkyrö positions at Vaskisavotta during the Continuation War of 1942–1944.
Outside the museum is a cannon park with nine decommissioned guns from Russia, Finland, Switzerland and Sweden. The oldest of them is a horse-drawn Russian field gun from 1902.
