About the museum

The old Liminka museum area is part of Liminka Ranta, a culturally valuable landscape along the Liminganjoki river. Rantatie was once the centre of services in Liminka and its main road, and the Liminka parsonage was the centre of spiritual and public life of the large parish. Three sites can be visited in the museum area.

The Vilho Lampi Museum presents the works of the painter Vilho Lampi (1898–1936) in the oldest folk school building in Northern Finland, built in 1868. The permanent exhibition contains works from all phases of Lampi's short but intense artistic career. The museum also has a museum shop.

Aappola is the villa and memorial home of the opera singer and singing teacher Abraham Ojanperä (1856–1916), and its renovated exhibition space holds objects from his life. The local heritage museum holds objects related to the history of Liminka, agriculture and especially meadow farming.
