About the museum
The museum is housed in the former residential and shop building of Jaakko Pokki (1847–1917), the first merchant in Valkeala. In the house, restored as a shop, Pokki's shop fittings and Finnish shop objects are on display, and the house has three shop rooms from different eras. Upstairs is the Kahvikutsut exhibition, and downstairs an exhibition that changes every year. The Valkealan Museoyhdistys ry association continues the work of Suomen puotimuseo.
The museum area includes the courthouse, the children's shop, the maids' storehouse, the café storehouse, the car storehouse with model cars, the stable storehouse and an old church boat. Right next door is the Valkealan kesäteatteri (Valkeala Summer Theatre).
