About the museum
The Vehoniemi Car Museum opened to the public in spring 1983 in the Vehoniemenharju nature reserve in Kangasala. It was founded by Lilja and Olavi Sallinen of Kangasala, whose family had been pursuing old vehicles since the 1950s. As the collection grew, the dream of a museum of their own arose, and a ridge that had been a well-known destination for motoring trips already since the 1920s was found as the location.
The museum was renovated in a refurbishment and new-build project completed in 2019, the most visible part of which is the café. Today the museum is run by the Sallinen family's daughter Leila Suutarinen and her daughter Pauliina Suutarinen.
In addition to the collections of the museum and the Sallinen family, the exhibition includes vehicles from individual enthusiasts, associations and foreign collections. The exhibition changes constantly and is sometimes built around themes. The vehicles on display are still roadworthy. In the motorcycle section, cooperation is carried out with the Veteraanimoottoripyöräklubi ry (Veteran Motorcycle Club).
