About the museum
The Eratyra Folklore Museum presents the way of life, trades, history and art of the village. It is located on the upper square, the “Pazari”, in the Chasiotis Mansion. The building extends over three levels: basement, ground floor and first floor.
In the basement there are storage and display spaces for objects that testify to the residents’ occupations, mainly agricultural, and to their way of life. The objects have been arranged so that the house looks laid out and equipped as it functioned two or three centuries ago. Photographs, drawings and texts complete the picture.
On display are bedspreads for the ontades (rooms), woven examples of folk art such as handmade embroideries and knitwear, and impressive costumes of the period before Otto. On the first floor, in the right-hand ontas, there are coins minted by the union of the Eratyrians before the founding of the Greek state, as well as weapons of that period.
