About the museum
The Laografiko Mouseio Kilkis was founded in 1997. Its collection comes from Christos Ketsetzis, who donated it in 1998, and in the same year the Municipality of Kilkis assigned the building of the former Gymnasium to house the museum. The museum has been operating in the restored building since 16 February 2010, at 2 Athanasiou Tsounta Street, in the courtyard of the 2nd Gymnasium.
It is a non-profit institution in the service of society and open to the public. Through donations it collects, preserves and studies material evidence of humans and their environment, and presents it for purposes of study, education and entertainment. Through the objects, the folk culture and the distinctive cultural identity of the Kilkis area are highlighted.
