About the museum
The Museum of the First World War and the Battle of Skra has operated in the central square of the village since May 2002. The idea came from the Cultural Association of Skra and was implemented by the then Municipality of Axioupoli, which built a special space for the collection. Today the museum belongs to the Municipality of Paionia.
The exhibition is dedicated to the Macedonian Front and to the battle of Skra, which took place on 17 May 1918, when Greek divisions occupied the positions of the Bulgarian army. Weapons, uniforms, decorations, helmets and other objects from the armies that fought on the front are displayed, as well as photographs, paintings and lithographs of the period. On the façade of the building there has been a bust of Eleftherios Venizelos since 2008.
