About the museum
The exhibition preserves the material and intellectual memories that the members and followers of the “Város” (“Town”) and “Törzs” (“Tribe”) created by hand for the Indian-cowboy games founded by Dr. Baktay Ervin in the 1930s. The exhibition's originator and first organiser was Lorencz József (Indian name: Sastoll), who first presented the objects and photographs he had collected over the years in Kisoroszi in 1988.
In 2013, the exhibition moved to Dunaharaszti, the home town of Baktay Ervin. In August 2024, the Néprajzi Múzeum (Museum of Ethnography) took over the objects for cleaning and restoration; the work took almost a year for most of the objects. After the renovation, the collection is shown in a more spacious and interactive setting.
