About the museum
The Swabian heritage house of Dunaharaszti was set up from a former German settler house in Alsófalu (Altstadt). Weinber Ferenc (1900–1972) began building the house in 1924 together with his wife, Stöckl Mária; the family was engaged in farming and chaff cutting.
Visitors can see the decorated best room (tiszta szoba), with a black bridal dress about 80 to 90 years old; the clean kitchen (tisztakonyha), the living room, the kitchen, and the pantry or summer kitchen with a reconstruction of an üstház (cauldron house). In the stable stand the counter of the Rötzer bakery, a gravestone fragment from a demolished German cemetery, a hay chute and a servant’s bed; in the coach house are a cart, a sledge, and agricultural and livestock tools.
The names of the rooms can be read in Hungarian, in German and phonetically in the Swabian dialect.
