About the museum
The basic idea behind the village reconstruction, completed in 2000, is to present the settlement structure uncovered by excavations. The structures reflect everyday village life in the Árpád era: every house, free-standing oven and other building was made at original size, based on the finds from the excavations, using only materials that were also available in that period. The small open-air museum is more crowded than the original, because a real village would have spread over 4–6 hectares. Tiszaalpár and its surroundings have been inhabited since the Bronze Age, as the many archaeological finds and sites attest. The presentation site is run by the Kiskunság National Park Directorate.
