Bálint Ágnes Emlékház

Memorial house in Vecsés in the house and garden where the writer Bálint Ágnes, creator of Frakk and Mazsola, lived for more than sixty years, with toys and a garden railway.

Opening hoursAdmission HUF 550

About the museum

The memorial house was set up by the family and is run by the Bálint Ágnes Foundation, in the house and garden where the writer lived and worked for more than sixty years. The old house was built in the second half of the 19th century as the hunting lodge of the Counts Andrássy.

The ground-floor rooms present the writer's life with original furniture, pictures and characteristic objects, including the typewriter bought from the fee for her first fairy-tale novel, from her first stories written as a child to her decades of work as a television editor and dramaturge. The old furniture and everyday objects of the kitchen invite visitors on a small journey through cultural history; in the upstairs playroom, an exhibition of old toys is on display, and a separate pantry shows old tools and toys. In the garden, a wooden carousel, rubber tables, skill games and a garden railway await children.
