About the museum
The Swabian (sváb) village heritage house of Biatorbágy operates on the former farmstead of the Bechtold family. Most pieces of the Néprajzi Gyűjtemény (Ethnographic Collection) are on view as a permanent exhibition; old family photographs hang on the walls, and old documents are kept in the display cases. The objects were donated by local residents in response to a call from the Német Nemzetiségi Önkormányzat (German Minority Local Government), including old furniture, household items and period clothing.
Beside the display rooms, the village heritage house is also a venue for community events: music and dance parties, children’s activities and special lessons of the minority school are held here, linked to the festivals of the Swabian community of Biatorbágy.
