About the museum
The Blaskovich Múzeum in Tápiószele is the only manor-house museum in the country that came through the Second World War with its furnishings intact. The members of the noble family were enthusiastic art collectors; the collection was already being enlarged by the grandfather, Blaskovich Gyula (1806–1850). His son, Blaskovich Gyula (1843–1911), first presented some valuable pieces of the private collection to the public.
The finest room of the manor is the Empire salon, whose walls are decorated with paintings by Kisfaludy Károly, Barabás Miklós and Györgyi Giergl Alajos. The museum is a member institution of the Magyar Mezőgazdasági Múzeum és Könyvtár (Hungarian Museum of Agriculture and Library).
The permanent exhibitions present the 19th-century noble manor and the Blaskovich collection, as well as the material remains of peasant life.
