About the museum
The foundations of the village museum were laid by the teacher Molnár László, who from the 1960s enthusiastically collected utensils of peasant life and enriched the collection until his death in 1977. The objects were previously stored in the school attic; intact pieces were taken from there into the museum exhibition.
The exhibition presents three rooms in the condition of the 1920s. In the room the domed stove (búboskemence) was reconstructed, and in the kitchen the old built-in cooking range (rakott tűzhely); the walls of the room, the kitchen and the hall were painted using stencils, earlier paints and the local colour harmony. The furnishings reflect the peasant domestic culture of the 1920s. Outstanding pieces include the painted sofa in the Tiszafüred style and its pair, the small sofa standing on the stove bench, the painted dish dresser (tálasfogas), the towered bed (tornyos nyoszolya) and the joined chest from Gömör (gömöri ácsolt láda).
