About the museum
The castle of Pácin appeared in the 14th century as part of the castle of Tokaj; after the Ottoman occupation it came into the hands of the Seredi family and then the Alaghy family. From 1571 it was owned by the Mágóchy family; the walls that stand today were built between 1560 and 1581. The building is Hungary’s largest Renaissance castle and a listed monument of outstanding importance.
The museum in the castle has permanent exhibitions presenting the traditional fishing of the Bodrogköz, the graphic works of Czinke Ferenc, the interiors of the castle and the folk life of the Bodrogköz.
The museum opens seasonally, from mid-May to mid-October.
