Fruhmann-ház

An exhibition on the history of tiled stoves and a preserved stove workshop in the former house of the Győr stove-maker Fruhmann Antal.

Opening hoursAdmission HUF 2,000

About the museum

Fruhmann Antal (1908–1987), a Győr stove-maker, bequeathed the Fruhmann-ház to the Xántus János Múzeum (Xántus János Museum) in his will, together with his house and workshop. The renovated building presents the history of stove-making in Győr; the workshop is preserved in its original function for visitors. The Fruhmann-ház has been an exhibition venue since 2008.

The exhibition “Az otthon melege” (“The Warmth of Home”) on the history of tiled stoves is unique of its kind. In a newly built pavilion the most characteristic stoves of the collection are on view. The display recalls the vanished stove workshops of Győr – those of Mágner, Dachauer, Magyary and Fruhmann – and presents the town’s craft and entrepreneurial traditions. The house is run by the Rómer Flóris Művészeti és Történeti Múzeum (Rómer Flóris Museum of Art and History).
