About the museum
The Hajdúnánás village heritage house was built at the end of the 1700s in folk Classicist style. In the reed-thatched, three-part Great Plain house (entrance hall, small room, large room) runs a longitudinal porch. Hajdúnánás had one of the country’s oldest straw industries, whose memory is preserved by a straw-sewing machine, a mangle (mángorló), harvest wreaths and kunkorgó (curling straw decorations); hat types based on the prospectus of the Sohler straw-hat factory can also be seen. In the courtyard stand a shaduf well (gémeskút), a corn crib (góré) and open sheds (színek); at the back, in the former stable, a smithy hides the old tools of the masters.
