About the museum

The Hetedhét Játékmúzeum is located in the historic town centre of Székesfehérvár, in the Hiemer–Font–Caraffa building block. Its permanent exhibition was created from two collections: the bourgeois toy collection of Moskovszky Éva and her mother, Auer Erzsébet, which is acclaimed across Europe, and the graphic legacy of Réber László. The museum is a branch of the Szent István Király Múzeum.

The two collections remind us that play is primarily an activity rather than consumption: real pleasure comes not from buying a toy but from using it. The exhibition space hosts museum education sessions, family programmes and popular science lectures, and the museum shop sells nostalgia games.

The Hiemer House is an outstanding, renovated, individually protected listed building complex in the town centre, formed from the merger of three buildings of medieval origin; its value lies in the surviving medieval architectural remains, the baroque frescoes and the stucco work.
