About the museum
The collection bears the name of Kőhalmi Horváth Péter, who was the first historian of the Jászkunság. He was born in Jászjákóhalma on 19 February 1756 and died in Jászberény on 24 February 1829; he was a Jász captain under the Palatine (nádori jászkapitány) and then for 23 years director of the grammar school in Jászberény. He wrote the history of the Jász-Kuns first in Latin (1801), then in Hungarian (1823).
The local history collection opened in 1998. On display are, among other things, the Félegyházi Madonna, former middle-class furnishings, memorabilia of hemp processing, a photograph series from the 1930s and other objects presenting the history of the settlement. In a separate room is a picture gallery formed from the works of the locally born painter Laki Ida.
