About the museum
JAURINUM is housed in the renovated rooms of the Nagyboldogasszony-székesegyház (Cathedral of the Assumption) in Győr, on the Káptalandomb (Chapter Hill). The treasury presents nearly ninety liturgical goldsmith and textile works from the Middle Ages to the present day; this is roughly one third of the holdings of the Győr Diocesan Collection.
The exhibition shows priestly vestments and devotional objects, which are among the most valuable church art works in the region. Because the treasury operates in the cathedral, tourist visits are suspended during liturgical events. Tickets are available at the ticket office of the Püspökvár-Toronykilátó (Bishop’s Castle Tower Lookout).
